Both Engines Respond to Fire at Dundalk Firehouse
Wednesday, February 10, 2010
-
At approx. 0240 Firebox 6-8 was struck for a building fire at Baltimore County Station 6. Engine 271, Engine 272, IV 275 & Brush 276 responded. Members of the Dundalk Station wore awoken by the stations fire alarm system to find the apparatus area of the firehouse to be well involved. Station 6 personnel were able to quickly pull Engine 61 outside & avoid major damage to it. The fire quickly went to 2 alarms & a good portion of the roof collapsed shortly after arrival. A total of 4 vehicles were destroyed in the fire. Engine 6, which was a brand new Rosenbauer pumper & had not been placed in service yet, was a total loss. Medic 106, Brush 6 & a National Guard Humvee were also a total loss. Medic 6 & Engine 6, a Freightliner that is currently in service, were able to be salvaged & removed after the fire & only sustained cosmetic damage to the paint & rear emergency lights. Thankfully there was no injuries during the incident & the fire was contained to the apparatus area.
